Looking up is such a positive expression and I have to admit I really enjoy actually looking up--at clouds, trees, mountains, the moon and the stars. Just the thought makes me smile. But in this post I mean looking up as in getting better, moving in a positive direction. I received a sign yesterday that my luck is going to be really good in the coming weeks.
For the first time in my life, a bird pooped on me!
As I walked back to my office from a meeting yesterday I saw something out of the corner of my eye. I looked down to discover a bird had gotten me on my left shirt sleeve, at bicep level. I keep a spare shirt in my office (wasn't a boy scout, but I try to be prepared), so I did not have to wear the soiled shirt the rest of the day. I washed the sleeve pretty thoroughly before putting the shirt in a bag. My daughter was happy to hear about this--birds have gotten her twice. Now she's not the only target in the family.
I have heard it's supposed to be a sign of good luck in your future. But honestly, I generally have pretty good luck anyway. And I was VERY lucky yesterday--lucky I wasn't looking up and standing two inches to the left when the bird fired at me. LOL!
So, have birds ever shared "luck" with you????
Have a great weekend, folks! :)
LOL. i don't think i've ever been gotten by a bird before, except my own pet bird that sits on my shoulder. I guess that is considered lucky!
ReplyDeleteHopefully it will be my last experience. I think if you have a towel across your shoulder when the bird goes, that's pretty lucky. =)
Deletein my culture, when a bird poops on you, it means good luck. now run out and buy a lotto ticket to go to the casino and play a few hands!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea! I haven't used the luck yet--I had one of my worst commutes ever today. A tree fell across the train tracks and I couldn't get to my station this evening. The alternate route took sooooo long.
DeleteOnly once! And it hit the front of my shoulder. Thank goodness my friend had a packet of wet tissues in her bag :D
ReplyDeleteIt's so gross. lol
DeleteFortunately I had a napkin in my pocket--I'll never be without one from now on.
haha I've had the "good fortune" to have this happen to me as well, except that the bird got me just on the side of my head! Luckily, it wasn't a big er.. poop and I was just outside of a hotel so I ran in and washed it off right away! I did also go buy a lottery ticket, but as I'm sure you can tell, a little poop was not enough to help me win big ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL, I haven;t had any luck yet either. So I'm assuming it's being saved up for something BIG! =)
DeleteThat is actually my worst fear! I live in the city and it is rampant with pigeons and other kids of icky birds... But i had no idea it was considered good luck.
ReplyDeleteI think fear attracts what we don;t want, so "just" put it out of your mind. hehe!
DeleteI've been hit by the luck of the poop before! We were in Cinque Terre, Italy enjoying our honeymoon and basking in the sunset of Riomaggiore. I was sitting on these rocks, and felt something hit my left shoulder! Thank goodness it was only residual splat (most had landed in the rock) but my hair had specks of "luck" on it. YUCK ... I mean (yay) LOL
ReplyDeleteOh no, on your honeymoon...and in such a perfect setting. The universe has a weird sense of humor (blessing you with luck at that particular moment). =)
Deletehahhahhah... oh that gave me a good laugh Rick! Look up! heheheh
ReplyDeleteI think I'll be looking down from now on unless I have an umbrella.
Deletefunny your daughter felt a surge of happiness knowing you got 'lucky' :)
ReplyDeleteI guess luck loves company. =)
DeleteHey! How did you do that "reply" thing here? Anyway, I knew it this story was going to be a funny one, AGAIN! But yeah, u were lucky you weren't looking up and on the right spot too, that would have been awful, especially if you had your mouth open ---- hahahahahaha!
ReplyDeleteRic, I have a blog giveaway going! Maybe you'd like to join or maybe you'd like to promote it your friends? And let me know how you did the "reply" thing... I want that too!
The reply (and delete) option is just part of the template, I didn't add it. Thanks for the heads-up on the giveaway.
DeleteI try to avoid this (and have been successful so far)! So you're telling me I should be positioning myself underneath them instead? :P
ReplyDeleteWell.....the luck thing was probably just made up to make victims feel less grossed out by what happened. So no, don't stand underneath! =)
DeleteI have not been hit by bird poop before outside but when I was very young, we reared parakeets. We would sometimes close the bedroom windows and door and let the 3 of them fly around the room. I was hit my poop on my arm then.
ReplyDeleteI stepped on dog poo twice and no I don't think stepping on dog poo is a sign of good luck. =P
Oh wow, birds flying free in the house. My KH would freak out. My sister's bird got tangled in KH's hair once...I think it scarred her for life. =)
