Five Hats

That's not the name of a new store or restaurant. It's what I'm "wearing" at work. Thanks to two retirements and two resignations, I'm covering the work of five people. Well, two of them didn't do very much, so I'm really only covering the work of 3 1/2 people.

Since the departures included my boss, in addition to the extra work, I have to spend (waste) a LOT of time in meetings. It's making for longer days than usual. The standard is an 11 hour day (plus two hours commuting time).

For fun and a nice distraction, I try to spend a little time commenting on your blogs during lunch (at my desk) or just before bed. So, if my comments are shorter (or weirder and with more typos) than usual, it's not a reflection of how much I enjoy reading your blog.

I'm closing with a bad joke I heard in a movie my wife watched today, "Happily N'Ever After"--it's a CGI version of Cinderella. The hero was appropriately named Rick--or Ella, depending on your perspective. =)

Why did the little pig not need to stop to use the bathroom?
Because he went wee, wee, wee all the way home.

The wolves really howled at that one.

  2. Oh gosh, even covering "3 1/2" people seems like a lot of work!! I hope it lets up soon.

You know I've never watched Happily N'Ever After, I'll have to add it to my Netflix to watch it.

Thank you soooo much for your sweet comments! It really makes my day ^^

  3. LOL that is too funny! So sorry to hear that you now have a heavier work load than you would like and I'm with you...meetings are not fun especially if you have people in there who enjoy hearing themselves talk...

Hi. I'm so sorry I haven't stopped by in a while. Your busy schedule sounds like mine. I feel like I'm wearing a TON of hats. But at least a can't say that I'm bored. I hope you've been well.

  9. Oh gosh. 11 hours work day plus 2 hours commuting makes it 13 hours if I'm correct... and I'm already complaining about an 8-9 hour day ;__;

Stay strong!! My motivation is sooooo down at the moemtn, too, there is just too much work and I'm looking forward to next week when two students will come to back me up ;)

Don't forget to stop by at my blog, too, I really love your comments ;)

At first I didn't get the joke, but then it made click, lol. I so wish I was a native English speaker!

  11. I hope things settle down at work in the very near future. And don't worry about typos. I think now with auto-correct making so many typos for us we have all become immune. :-)

  12. Haha! Sorry to hear about the job situation. Hope they either hire more people or give you a raise. If I remember correctly, you weren't your boss' biggest fan. ;)

(Yep, we beat 'em to breakfast! :P And you're right about pho being typically for breakfast. In Vietnam for example, pho stalls are opened at 7am. But nope, I did not have pho that morning. It was some random noodle soup...lol)

  13. good luck with the new assignment for your job! haha I read blogs in the morning and at lunch too, sometimes when I'm idle at work like now I read it as well... then my comment tends to be longer cuz mentally I'm more bored? not sure. now I'm just babbling LOL

  14. When I first read the tile, I was thinking "is that how many hats Rick owns?" I never took you for much of a hat person, so I thought 5 was a lot. And, maybe it's weird that I'm thinking you don't wear hats when in reality I have no clue. Maybe you wear hats whenever you're not at work. Are you a ball cap wearing type of guy? Or maybe you like fedoras or top hats? LOL

Okay, Oops, I'm totally off blog topic now. hahah

Well you sure have been having some super long week days there! :/ I hope that you're catching up on sleep & doing things you enjoy on your weekends.
If you were living in my area, I'd take you to SF with me and have you come out and feast with Aylwin & I ;D

  15. Email me and I'll tell you who it is. I'm this close to blasting that person on my blog, because all this time I've kept it private. But one of her sisters decided to talk crap to me on my Facebook page. So she pretty much gave it away right there. LOL.

  17. Thank you for your condolences on Charmaine's passing. I like all your little thoughts about what she's doing up there in heaven. I'm sure she's smiling down cheekily.

You sound like me back when I was at work. Sometimes it could be a 12 hour day but thankfully, I don't spend 2 hours commuting. Do you have a smartphone. I don't have one but I'm intending to get i-phone 5 coz I see how useful it can be during waiting and commuting. It saves a lot of time if I could comment on blogs during these waiting time.

I like the lame joke a lot! I'm howling like the big bad wolf now.
