Boxing Day

Boxing Day Rules:

1st RULE: You do not talk about Boxing Day sales before you get the item.

2nd RULE: You DO NOT talk about Boxing Day sales before you get the item.

3rd RULE: If someone says "stop" or goes limp, the fight is over and the item is yours.

4th RULE: Only two shoppers to a fight.

5th RULE: One fight at a time.

6th RULE: No sharp nails, no stilettos.

7th RULE: Fights will go on as long as they have to.

8th RULE: If this is your first Boxing Day sale, you HAVE to fight.

I should have shared the Rules earlier. I've heard that Boxing Day (and Black Friday) sales can be pretty rough. If you participated, I hope you won.

PS - I have had ideas for posts, but when I try writing them out they seem even worse than the above. Sorry, I got nothing!!! Oh, and you probably noticed the Boxing Day rules are oddly similar to the Fight Club rules. ;P

  1. I rarely like Boxing Day. I know the sales are crazy on boxing day, I just don't get the point to squeeze yourself between other shoppers to buy something. Things scattered on the display never attract my attention anyways. Despite the fact that I'm not a millionaire, I'm usually attracted to the "new items" nicely arranged on the shelves.

    For some reason.

Today I got stuck in really bad traffic, trying to get into this one shopping mall. I thought it was working day therefore there wont be many people around, how I was extremely wrong. The traffic started from the highway!!! The only reason why I had to go to the shopping mall was because I was hungry and I had nothing to eat at home. Story of my life.

p.s I feel like I'm actually "blogging" on your comment page! ahahhahahahah

  4. I had no idea what was Boxing day until one of my readers in Ireland wished me a happy boxing day. Luckily he talked about his turkey breakfast and his soccer match he attended!

  8. Haha that first rule is soooo me. I always say that when I have kids I will buy them their Christmas presents after Christmas - That way they can have anything they like because itd be in the sales!

p.s. Thank you for the last comment on my post. It makes so much sense what you said. Sometimes a girl just needs a mans perspective on things to make things clear again (:

  9. I'm shocked. An American talking about Boxing Day? Do you call it that in the US now? I remember my first Christmas after moving to Canada, being totally confused by this strange new holiday. :-)

  11. Oh gosh seems a bit violent! Lol. Maybe I should just stay home.

^@popchampagne: I wouldn't want to be that lady that says excuse me I have a kid, lolol.

You're right though bringing a child on a busy day with sales gets crazy, and having your young child with you who can't quite fight through lines and whatnot shouldn't be there.

  12. This may sound ridiculously sad, but I had to google boxing day -__- Of all people you'd think that I'd know what it was. lol

I knew what Black Friday shopping was, and have even gone a few times and fought through the crowds myself, lol jk. I always end up getting super claustrophobic! >_<
But this year was the first time I ever went shopping on Boxing Day. I ended up going with Aylwin's family & it was crazy how many people were out. Not as bad as Black Friday, but still intense. And of all the shopping I did (Pretty much the whole darn day) I only ended up with 3 items. SMALL ones. lol They were 505a off Christmas ornaments from Crate & Barrel. haha :D

  13. Haha this is an awesome post. I did manage to get some good deals on Boxing Day... but unfortunately no one wanted to fight me. I thought I looked pretty fierce. Must be my big muscles. :) Hope you had a wonderful holiday so far and happy new year to you! All the best in 2012!

May you live, love and laugh your way through 2012!

Thanks for all your comments while I was away. I enjoyed reading them. I haven't got time to catch up with the posts which I've missed so just a short well-wish note here.

  15. When we used to live in London I got to experience "Boxing Day" but it was much too different. It was quite laid back and what's actually best during boxing day is going to the carboot sales (flea market) but no Black Friday-like madness!

By the way, sorry I haven't been visiting. I've been packed. I've been too lazy!

  19. lol Fight club is kinda like some shopping sales! My mom and grandma have their battles stories, which involve crawling through people's legs to get at houseware items, but I have yet to have my first shopping sale fight!
