I've had a slew of car problems lately. I won't list them all, I'll just say it's bordering on ridiculous. When I got home from work tonight, my wife said my car (her van is in the shop) came close to overheating today. I sighed a mighty sigh and went to check it out. The radiator was full, so I took the car for a drive to see what would happen. The needle on the temperature gauge settled into the middle of the normal range and stayed there. It was fine.
My wife didn't believe that, so we went for a short drive together. Almost immediately she pointed to the gauge and said, "See, the needle is going all the way up to the "L" in Normal."
She was pointing to the oil pressure gauge!!! The oil pressure was in the higher range of normal, which is good.
The temperature gauge also has "normal" written on it, with a "C" on the left and an "H" on the right.
I guess it goes without saying that it's important to be sure what you're looking at before drawing any conclusions--and making me sigh in that "oh no, not again!" way. ;P
This makes me almost certain that I will never own a car even if I can afford it!
ReplyDeleteI'd hate to think how much I've spent buying, insuring, maintaining cars.
DeleteLOL. my sister is the same way. she doesn't know which end from the other when it comes to cars. when she had her first car, she didn't even know how to put gas in it and somehow got friends or my dad to fill it up for her during THE FIRST YEAR. all she knows is how to put the key in the ignition and drive the damn thing.
ReplyDeleteAn entire year??? lol, I wish I had the skill to get others to do things like that. But really, I might have it, I just feel driven to do things myself. =)
DeleteHAHA oh dear... check, check and double check. You know how much I hate car stuff :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! I'd help if I could.
DeleteYep, that is the reason why I don't have a car and don't drive! I'm sure I would be the worst car driver on this planet, hahaha :)
ReplyDeleteDrive other people's cars! =)
DeleteOh man, I am sorry to hear there are more car troubles! This is rough and also I hope the kids are back in school and everything else is going well...
ReplyDeleteAll is well--as long as I can avoid that sick lady in my office. I hope you're feeling better soon!
DeleteBoo to car problems! :( Well at least this one was a false alarm.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty bad around cars myself. :P
You may not believe me if I listed everything that's happened. My dad was a mechanic, so I learned more than I wanted to know about cars. Haha! But there's not too much work I can do on them myself anymore--too cramped and computerize.
DeleteMaybe this was the signal that your car problems are at an end!
ReplyDeleteLOL, amen!
DeleteReading this, I wonder where is the oil pressure gauge in my hubby's car.
ReplyDeleteAnd then you guys would go: "WOMEN!!!"
Thank you for always finding the time to leave me a note. I've not been catching up on blogs for 2 weeks and it's nice to know that people are still reading. =)
RYC:
My current job hours are normal and not at all like my previous one. It's just the adjustment of my body clock. It hasn't gotten used to waking up at 5+, 6am yet. Hence, I get too tired once I get home and am unable to do anything constructive.
I'll find my balance soon!
Some cars have warning lights instead of a gauge, so hubby's car may not have one.
DeleteI hope the hours stay normal once your body is back in the swing of getting up so early.
I've been driving for a number of years now and I still don't know the letters you've mentioned in this post! Haha! That's probably why my Dad's sighing all the time!
ReplyDeleteHaha, it's a dad's job to sigh! :)
DeleteMy fave song of theirs is Yellow Submarine. What was weird though was that while this song wasn't used in the show, they had submarine souvenirs in the gift shop.
