An Outfit Post

Haha, no, it's not what you think.

During a visit to Krissy's blog (back in January), it occurred to me that the most important component of any outfit is the person wearing it. As long as you're happy and comfortable (and clothed), that's all that matters. I've read that "clothes make the man", but I think it's the other way around--the person makes the clothes.

And speaking of making clothes, if you can sew even a little, you have my respect...and perhaps a little envy too! The most I can do is put in a few stitches to close small rips in seams (so the seamstress at the local cleaners gets my business). I remember threading needles for my mom when I was little--she was pretty handy (but could NOT thread a needle). After watching her I decided I could sew too. I sewed closed holes in my socks (it was hard to get them on after my "repairs"), fixed seams in my pants (it looked like I had added a fringe), and replaced buttons (who knew you were supposed to leave room between the shirt and the button???).

Ps - We went to an amazing esate sale today at an actual estate called Evermay. It was pretty cool. We spent too much, but most of what we bought will be re-sold on Ebay--at least that was the justification at the time. =)

    Hahaha, I'd love to see an outfit post of you, though! XDDD

    I actually can't sew but I do knit and crochet, and I'd say I'm not the worst! ;) Currently I'm knitting a black beanie hat for London's Boutique ;p

    I remember threading needles for my mum and dad when I was young, it was the hardest bit for them ^^.

    I think confidence is key for any outfit, male or female =)

    Sometimes you need to spend money to make money! I've never been to an estate sale, it seems interesting though!

    I will try to keep your thought that all that matters is being happy, comfortable and clothed in mind as I try to find something to wear to Rebekah's wedding in August. :-)

    people definitely add personality to an outfit but i think a fabulous outfit can exude confidence in any person. i know new shoes always do for me.

    You can sew better than me. My only claim to fame is sewing buttons. ;P Evermay looks gorgeous.

    Hahaha! I can do basic sewing by hand, but that's it. I've been wanting to learn how to sew using a machine but I haven't really made time for it. Tsk. I should!!!!!

    Hey, that's great! You can sew alittle is handy, especially when the Wifey is not available. Trial & error makes the skill. My hubby is the same and my son's still under training. ;)

    I learnt the hard way too! I didn't know that we have to leave a little room between the button and shirt... sigh am a complete failure haha =.=

    sometimes I find the most simple outfits make me the most comfident. like jeans and a tank :D

    awww ya i had a similar experience, looking up to my aunt when she sewed and then now i'm always by the sewing machine!

    i WISH i could sew! last time i tried to sew on a button on a pinwheel, it looked like a 3 year olds job. Actually, a 3 year old probably would've done a better job! :P

    But your sewing story is quite hilarious, as my hubby doesn't understand sewing either. I laughed when I saw what he was trying to do...LOL

    Oh! I have stories about sewing too. When I was young we had to use a sewing machine to make a lab coat. We were supposed to use the lab coat for biology class and we had to make the lab coats in home economics. Anyway, I did not know anything about sewing machines --- and was too proud to ask for help so I sew mine in hand.

    My teacher got really mad!
