In a week or so I'll do something annoying and hopefully it will at least balance out. Probably not, but I can hope! The "what did he do" talk used to bother me, but I've learned to enjoy the stirring. :)
Well, she has to put up with me all the time. So it's the least I can do. Plus, I've known people who were completely charming to friends and co-workers, but not so much to their family. I never want to be like that. Our families deserve our best. :)
It often is the case. I don;t understand. Why can't people do nice things for others without any reason at all? Whether it is with partners or families or friends, sometimes others would just think it the cynical way or even extreme cases, the receiver themselves. I guess that's human nature.
The funny/sad part is when the person you're being nice to is suspicious/cynical. Some of that I get--sadly it's pretty normal to wonder "what does this person want from me?". But that shouldn't happen after there is an established friendship. Maybe that's why I try to do most of my good deeds Lone Ranger style--anonymous and get away before the person can thank you. That way you're not disappointed when they don't. lol
Haha people are so weird! Although my husband never buys me flowers, mostly people I kill them within a day... so if he ever did get me flowers randomly I would probably think something was wrong too! :)
Flowers are a bad investment--with the short shelf life. There are certainly better options. But my wife likes flowers. And if your husband comes home with flowers, it's just because he's trying to be different and surprise you. Remember that! :)
I guess the truth is there are more people out there who make us cynical than there are who don't. It's nice to have a few good friends we can just be ourselves with and not have to worry about who might want what or think what.
Again, so nice of you! Yay for the long weekend
ReplyDeleteProbably a waste of time being nice to family, but what the heck!!! :)
DeleteHow nice Rick! It was kind of a two-for one deal. You made your wife happy, and got all her coworkers' curiosity stirred up. Well done!

ReplyDeletethanks for your continuous encouraging comments!
I bet the happiness from the flowers helped with your recovery. Acts of kindness like that mean a lot.
DeleteThe fact that I'm still commenting proves I wasn't just looking to get an invitation to the bakery--although I really wanted to try that place. :)
I can't help it either, it's not often people do things just out of the blue anymore. so sweet with the flowers :)
