Orange Juice

I'm not a fan.  My tummy doesn't like acid in the morning and I don't like pulp.  My wife loves it (oj and pulp), especially when she's sick.  I buy gallons of orange juice for her when she's not feeling well.

Do you like orange juice?

Saturday a fly was buzzing around the kitchen.  I spotted it inside a dirty glass on the counter, so I put my hand over the top to trap it.  I couldn't think of a sure fire way to kill it without running the risk of it escaping.  So I decided to take it outside to set it free.  As I stepped onto the front porch, the fly went to the bottom of the glass.  The moment it came in contact with the tiny amount of orange juice in the bottom, it immediately turned over on it's back...dead!

Humans and flies don't have much in common (except for those talking flies), but I'm going to remind my wife about this story every time she tries to get me to drink orange juice.  Yuck!

  1. It depends. I'm very picky when it comes to drinking these juices. I like the pulpy ones and not the powdered type. McDonald's has good OJ. Haha. This post is so cute, Rick!

    1. I've heard that about McDonald's. The one OJ I liked wasn't really OJ, it was more of an orange drink. I like orange, but not orange juice. Same with coffee. I don't like coffee, but I like coffee-flavored things. I guess that's a little weird. :)

  2. I like OJ and sometimes I like the pulp in it. They're really good for you when you're feeling sick.

If I'm not bothered to clean my dishes right away, I fill them up with water to prevent flies from hovering around them.

    1. I always rinse mine out...and if I leave them on the counter it's because someone hasn't emptied the dishwasher yet. Since that one had OJ in it, you know it couldn't have been mine. LOL!

  3. I don't love orange juice, but I don't hate it either. I sort of enjoy the pulp, but I don't mind ones without it either. I guess I'm really indifferent towards OJ. I drink it because I know it's good for me. But it's not my first choice for a beverage by any means!

    1. I feel that way about carrot juice. I have a glass almost every morning. I like oranges, but not orange juice. Passion fruit and mango are my two favorite juices, but almost never get them.

    1. Same with most applesauce--I think I read Mott's is the worst, might as well just take a swig of corn syrup.

  5. I like orange juice, but not right after I have brushed my teeth. Even though I like it I don't drink it very often. I think it is way healthier to eat oranges rather than drinking the juice.

    1. You're right...and the oranges taste so much better. This is oversharing, but OJ feels thick in my mouth and seems to leave a residue. I need a drink of water afterwards.

    1. lol, me too! I used to order apple juice whenever I went out for breakfast/brunch. Then I decided it was okay to have diet coke for breakfast...and somewhere along the line I switched to water. But I still buy apple juice once in a while.

    1. I'm with you 100%! Oranges are great, but the juice isn't the same--and it leaves my whole mouth feeling like it has a nasty coating. My wife loves it so much that she can't comprehend that I don't, even after all these years.

I'm surprised no one commented on OJ bringing instant death to that fly. :)

  8. You know, I feel like drinking orange juice after reading this. I'm so thirsty. I get what you mean about the acid. I can't take orange juice on an empty stomach too.

I never knew the acid from oranges are that strong to kill a fly. Hmm... Now I've got an idea to kill my bathroom flies. Do you have bathroom flies over in the States?

    1. Haha, maybe that's why they make that orange scented cleaning product. Our flies seem to congregate in kitchens.

  9. Thanks for sharing...
Although my favourite is tea, I drink orange juice sometimes.

  10. Lol on the fly dying in the juice! I don't like sweet drinks regularly, except coffee and lattes and even then I don't like too much sugar. I'd rather drink water. But if I'm out to a restaurant, I might order an iced tea ;)

    1. I'm the same way. I drink water almost exclusively, but will order iced tea out. Once in a blue moon I'll have a soft drink. I used to drink too much soda (diet coke, dr. pepper, fresca, seven-up)....no longer!
