Kristie is headed for the UK and that reminded me of a terrible joke (set in London). In the middle of the night, a constable stops a young couple walking down the street and asks if they live in the neighborhood. The woman points to a building and responds, "Yes sir, I live there and he has the flat behind." Yuk-yuk-yuk!
I think the Brittish may have invented "your momma" jokes. Old lines like, "Your mother's mouth is so big, she gets lipstick in her ears when she smiles" or "Your mother's mouth is so big she has to keep her false teeth in a bucket".
Other lines I've heard on Brittish shows:
"What's that in the road...a head?" is not how you want to ask what's ahead in the road.
"What's this thing called, love?" isn't what Cole Porter wrote.
Clearly I have nothing to post about. Actually, I do, but yes, this is a post about nothing--except hoping Kristie has a wonderful trip. =)
Have a great weekend folks!
Thanks for the good wishes Rick! British humour is in a class by itself, that's for sure! I hope to have lots of updates on my blog as the trip progresses. They will no doubt be picture heavy and prose light. I am just now sitting down with a cup of tea while I take a break from packing. It is looking pretty scary - piles of stuff transferred from the floor to the bed. Now I just have to figure out how to get it into my backpack. :-)
ReplyDeleteposting about nothing is always fun! hehe! "flat behind" haha! i totally get it b/c when we lived in Hong Kong, they called apartments, flats as well... probably because it was still ruled by the british at that time. :P have a great weekend as well rick!
ReplyDeleteYour nothing posts are very entertaining!! Hope you are well Ric =) and a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteLOL ~ it took me a while to digest the word 'flat' since we use the same here in Malaysia. Only of recent times that we have incorporated 'apartment'. You always have something to joke about ... that's sunshine! Cheers to your weekend!
ReplyDeleteAaahhh I don't know what I'd do without British humour in my life! I used to take every opportunity to stay in and watch BBC Comedy on the 'telly' when I visited England. >.<
ReplyDelete(Oh Singapaw uses 'flat as well, hahaha.)
I hope you're also having a great weekend Rick! I always like when you supply me with jokes to laugh at. :D Thank you!
ReplyDeleteBritish humor is the best! XD
ReplyDeleteHope your weekend is going well.
hope Kristie is having a great trip as well!
ReplyDeletethe other day i saw a roadkill skunk on the road, and my friend said
"why did the chicken cross the road?"
"why?"
"to prove to the skunk that he could do it"
i thought that was pretty funny
Sometimes I just like posting bout nothing or something simple. :) Hope Kristie has a great trip, yay!
ReplyDeletehehe the British are relatively polite in their "your momma jokes".. and you post when there's nothing in particular, the problem is I'm guilty of the opposite sigh!
ReplyDeleteI typed 2 paragraphs and it just disappeared. Blogger doesn't like me.
ReplyDeleteI love British humour, even the deadpan ones. No wait, aren't all of them deadpanned?
Yo momma jokes reminds me of Russell Peter's "Your mama so fat that when she jumped for joy, she got stuck."
Singapore's radio station held this "You're so fat that..." competition with the djs and callers to shoot each other with "You're so fat that..." insults. One funny one I remember was "You're so fat that when you walk past the tv, I miss the whole season of CSI."
I'll leave you with a British video for laugh:

Maybe I'll do a post on why I wake up so early. haha, most people are confused that I wake up while the moon is still out!
